For your
business to succeed on-line, choosing the right Domain Name
is very important and the process should be given great
thought. If you already have a strong Brand and well
known Company name, it's good sense to put it in your Domain
Name, but if you are just starting out, including keywords
in your Domain Name will help with on-line marketing going
forward.
We recommend
Domain Names that:
-
are as
short as possible
- This makes them easier to remember and don't forget,
when people Email you, the Domain Name has to be typed
out in full at least once. Also, lots of words
strung together may confuse Search Engines.
-
include
your Company name
- Not always necessary, but it does help people who know
you to find you on the Web, get's your Company name out
there and compliments Brand consistency.
-
include
major keywords
- For
example, if your Company name is 'Expo' and you
sell/manufacture Prams, an ideal Domain Name would be
www.expoprams.com or www.expo-prams.com. This
helps a great deal with natural, organic Search Engine
Optimisation. You should also think 'human' when
dealing with the Internet as Search Engines do get
confused when you string lots of words together, for example, it
would be hard for a Search Engine to read and separate 'expopramsonlineuk.com'
as it all looks like one word, but expoprams.com or
expo-prams.com is far
easier to decipher. Register both!
We also
recommend registering both the .com (worldwide) and .co.uk
Domain Name extensions even if you only trade in the UK.
These are 'top level Domain Extensions' and registering them
will secure your Web presence and avoid any confusion with
your competitors.
