The importance of good Website design

A Website could be the best marketing tool your Company will ever have and with this in mind, it's important to get it right.

Whilst 'content' and 'ease of use' are the highest considerations when we build a Website, it is also very important to get the look and feel right.  This ensures that the user is engaged for longer periods of time.

A good Website design should be crisp, fast loading and promote Brand consistency i.e. if you already have Company Brochures, Stationery and Sales Literature, then your Website should conform to the existing design wherever possible.  If you are just starting out in business, fantastic, as you can design your Website from scratch and make everything else conform.

Top tips for good layout and design:

• A user will naturally look to the left or top of your Website for navigation

• Use contrasting background and text colours to ensure ease of reading i.e. White text on Black

• Make sure your graphics are fully optimised for Web use.  This helps with page load times

• If your Website is coded correctly, it should conform to W3C Standards so your Website will look the same on all Browsers

A well designed Website will captivate/engage your audience and attention to layout will give the user what they are looking for quickly and easily.
